The OHLA Group's dedicated employees, local and global expertise, and innovative solutions are the foundation of our success as a premier heavy civil contractor. Globally, we have completed more than 130 tunneling projects, totaling more than 120 miles, designed to meet local utility infrastructure or transportation needs.
Our signature projects in North America include the $428 million East Side Access Project where we deployed two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) to excavate four tunnels totaling 25,000 feet in length, approximately 120 feet below Manhattan; the $221 million Replacement of Water Siphons between Brooklyn and Staten Island involving excavation of a 9,440-foot-long tunnel under Anchorage Channel to house a 72-inch water main; and the $358 million project to build the north tunnels of the Toronto Subway Extension, which included the sequential excavation method—the first construction of its kind in Canada.
Our team is well versed in advanced boring methodologies—including excavation with slurry, hard rock, and earth pressure balance TBMs—safely operating in some of the most geologically challenging locations.
