OHL North America has an incredibly strong presence in the regional rail industry through Judlau Contracting. The company has completed many projects to improve the rail systems of the New York Metropolitan Area, as well as doing work in Chicago and other cities. Judlau specializes in mass transit and design-build projects, having extensive experience and expertise in both, bolstered by a well-rounded body of work that demonstrates expansive skills and capabilities.
Judlau has completed work for massive clients such as New York City Transit, the MTA, and the Long Island Rail Road. Their most recent project was part of the first phase of an expansion of the Second Avenue Subway line, the first expansion of the system in over 50 years. This included extensive electrical work in the station, structural concrete work, ventilation installation, and station finishings. The stations are also 100% ADA compliant.
Community Asphalt, another OHL North America company, has also delivered railway projects in South Florida. One such project is the Airportlink Metrorail in Miami, which is the only metrorail in full service in the State of Florida and is the fastest mode of transportation in Miami-Dade. This project faced challenges unique to the South Florida environment, such as a high water table, yet still met industry safety standards and was awarded VPP Star Status. Other significant works done by OHL North American divisions in railroad infrastructure include:
- Culver Line Viaduct II
- Cortlandt Street Station
- Montague Tube Rehabilitation
- Rehabilitation of Columbus Circle Station
- South Ferry Station – Construction and Rehabilitation
